As is traditional, I went home for Christmas, in January, where plane-fare is about half the price (score-ish...). Anywho, I booked the tickets over a month ago and explained to my fair mother that she would have to be damned with superstition and keep those lovely Christmas decorations up waaaay past the traditional January 6th (Thank you Mum). Growing up in a household full of aesthetic pleasure and eclecticism Christmas was always the holiday that brought everyone together. Dad = Hong Kong - London, Brother = Whatever school he's in at the time - London, Christmas decorations - Tree.
First off I have to post the delectable din-din cooked up in my post-Xmas honor! These meals I dream of before coming home, cannot replace a good home cooked meal. Cornfed + organic (natch) roast Chicken with Brussel sprouts, Roast Potatoes (My family always knows how to make the best roast 'tatos, it's magic) and a verrrry juicy Butternut Squash. If these pics don't make your mouth water you have an eating disorder. No seriously go get yourself checked out.
And my Mum made the moistest most delicious Carrot Cake that the Boyf is hocking for the recipe...
And to get you in the mood:
Whilst digesting I had a chance to fully taken in the details of my mothers Christmas frenzied love. From Santa Claus Village:
Complete with illicit Santa behavior
And the surrounding salacious gossip
This lady has watched over me since I was wee child
Typical multi-culti antiques in this shot
The Following day (I'd like to say morning but the jetlag was awful for me so day is going to be much more truthful...) I got to take photos go the tree and the rest of the ornaments around the house.
We've traditionally always had a handsome jester atop our tree. This may explain a few things to my friends...
My favourite ornament, just 'coz it's a freaking judge/barrister/solicitor ornament. Wow!
Multi-culti ornaments
How pretty did this photo come out?!
Did I mention our tree is a zoo?
Complete with Chinese reindeer afrolicking amongst giant owls (very Studio Gibli no?)
And kamikaze birds...
What tremendous spirit for such a short person!
A procession along the front window!
Who could it be for?
Oh it's the queen of course. Duh!
Hope you enjoyed those! See you soon!

YES! Sprouts are so difficult to do well, but when you know the secrets of the root veggie, you are rewarded many times over!
Will try the hat trick for sure. Thanks!
Ugh, Brandon, you're TOO cute, and your house is too charming, just the sort of place I would expect you to grow up in. I want to come for post-christmas pre-Paris next time! And I want the recipe for the carrot cake too! Or just to be invited over when Hec gives it a try!!! Salivating...
I must see you soon, before school starts, so we can catch up!
