London Fashion Week - Introduction

First and foremost, we here at Feigned Perfection must apologise for this rather long gap between posts; to cut a long story short our system (a lowly Apple iBook) had to go back to Apple for repairs and so we have been without it for a while. But the good news is that we have it back and can continue on our reports for the Spring Summer 2007 collections. Secondly we’d like to apologise for the rather rushed nature of the last post and shall endeavour to try and keep our future posts a little bit more readable and grammatically correct.

So we have our system back and we’ve been busy writing up reports on London Fashion week. Of the shows that we saw only two really caught our imaginations, Jonathan Saunders fantastically progressive collection and Paul Smith’s quirky women's show. Of these two shows there was a definite arty feel to both.

At the Jonathan Saunders show, there was a languid watercolour palette, with colour blocking done in an interesting new way, reminding us of Matisse and his Papier Collier (or collage) effect.

Paul Smith happily acknowledged his influence of the British artist, David Hockney for the colour palette. Everything else was classic Smith, creating feminine, quirky and altogether British clothing that is wearable whether you are Helen Mirren or just Helen who lives down the street.

So we hope these little titbits of fashion will keep you hungry for our reports on these respective designers over the following week. Hopefully the Winter ‘08 Couture shows won’t roll around the corner before we finish our reports on Paris and Milan.
