When I woke up this morning I had no idea about how eventful this day would be in the fashion world. The Times reported that one of Feigned Perfections favourite designers, Monsieur Valentino, was stepping down. This came as no surprise especially after Valentino’s huge 45th anniversary celebrations earlier this year. What did come as a surprise was how soon this happened. Valentino was the first designer to have a show that we fell in love with and that actually gave us the first buzz that you get after a real amazing show (wow who would have thought a fashion show was like heroin!) and I read with great sadness about how upcoming final shows.
We just checked the Vogue.com website to see that Alessandra Facchinetti will be taking over the reigns from Valentino himself, just as we were thinking about who would be Val’s successor. Facchinetti has done two collections for Gucci before being replaced by Frida Giannini due to a “management dispute” (whatever that means). In the mean time the world will be waiting with baited breath over the final Haute Couture and Ready to wear shows that Valentino himself will be designing. As a small tribute to the great designer, we have put together a small collection of some of his best pieces from the last few seasons.
